Highlands Junior School

Project description

Highlands Junior school is a 169,000 sf building for Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District. This new school replaces a 1950’s facility that was undersized
and outdated in an area growing in population. The new state of the art school includes the latest science classrooms with the most current scientific equipment needed for a middle school. In addition the library is uniquely designed allowing maximum supervision and access for information for all grades. The point value system in accordance with the Texas Education Agency was used whilst evaluating the library and the school itself and was graded highly.

The school was designed in accordance to the Goose Creek Technical specifications Manual. All classrooms including the library are part of an overall day lighting strategy to make the internal environment a pleasant place for one to work and study.
