PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Sandrock Apartments is an affordable housing complex located in South Houston and consists of 144 apartment units across three buildings. With large detention and parking requirements coupled with a few odd easements, the buildings thread through these site parameters as a series of linear “tubes” connected by bridges on a narrow L-shaped strip of land. Traditional fiber cement board siding on the exterior indexes the neighboring apartment complexes and helps keep costs down. White siding on the outside of the “tubes” is punctuated by the interior accent siding to indicate entry locations, vertical circulation and social gathering spaces.
