A Singapore-based real estate investor has bought more than 29 acres of land near Chicago where it plans a logistics facility, another step in the firm’s quest to become one of the biggest industrial developers in the United States.
Mapletree Investments said it has bought a site at 1035 W. Laraway Road in Joliet, Illinois, where it plans to develop a 418,880-square-foot warehouse. The project is planned on speculation, or without leasing commitments.
The 29.36-acre site is about 40 miles southwest of Chicago’s Loop business district.
