A Greensboro general contractor and a Texas developer are adding to the recent industrial growth in Mebane. Fourth Elm Construction started construction in August on the nearly 200,000-square foot Buckhorn Business Center, and industrial center in Mebane, said John Martin, a partner at Fourth Elm. Griffin Partners of Houston is the developer in the project.
Griffin acquired the 25.6 acres of land off Interstate 40 and Interstate 85 at Buckhorn Road outside Mebane in August for $1.5 million, fillings with the Orange County Register of Deeds show. The address of the properties that Griffin purchased is 2080 and 2090 Creekside Industrial Drive, according to Orange County property records, but Martin said the address of the park will be 6322 Rabbit Run Lane.
The park will consist of two concrete tilt-up buildings - one being 11,724 square feet while the other will be 85,103 sf. Each building will have 130-foot truck courts and the park will include dock doors and 4 ramp doors in total.
The architect on the project is Powers Brown Architecture; civil engineering is being performed by Stewart; and Haines Gipson & Associates is the structural engineer. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing are being performed by Fourth Elm Construction subcontractors in a design-build model.
