  • Creating Constructability Reviews that Consider Every Aspect of Design Risk and Set-up Teams for Success

ABSTRACT

This presentation was created to provide a collaborative recommendation and study on the value of constructability reviews performed both during the design process and during a preconstruction process with the General Contractor. The differences between design reviews and constructability reviews are highlighted. The presentation also discusses the obstacles to doing proper constructability reviews with certain delivery methods and proposes solutions to overcoming these obstacles. Below are the listed objectives:

  • Determine up-front what to look for in creating a reliable, buildable set of drawings for even the most technical aspects of design
  • Identify and prioritize critical risk features of the design that the designer and builder can proactively address in the workflow to avoid design rework
  • Review tools and technologies that collaboratively support the constructability process
