Quality Manager - Houston

Powers Brown Architecture is looking to add an experienced architect to the Quality team in our Houston office.

The selected candidate will:

  • Complete thorough reviews of completed construction documents firmwide for accuracy and constructability. Reviews will include multiple building types from all Powers Brown Architecture offices - including industrial, office, medical, multi-family, and interiors among other project types. This process will also include review of engineering documents for coordination purposes
  • Assist Quality leaders in development of firm typical or standard details and perform constructability reviews on any proposed typical details
  • Act as a proactive resource to project teams in their project decision processes and provide strategic support in the development of technically sound and innovative design solutions
  • Lead and initiate ongoing staff mentoring and training to support a culture of continuous quality improvement based on a specific focus area (Document Completion, CA, Standards, and Specifications)
  • Work with firm leadership to ensure continuous improvement of design excellence and quality of executed work by tracking common errors within completed construction documents 
  • Work with firm Quality leaders to ensure that technical goals, standards, procedures, practices, and systems are consistently implemented and to develop and update technical standards and documentation within areas of focus (Documentation Completion/Training, Standards/Training, or Specifications/Training). Support other focus areas in this process 
  • Develop strategies to capture, share, and promote relevant institutional knowledge within the firm 
  • Meet with other Quality staff on a regular basis to monitor work in progress and ensure that the firm's process standards and procedures are being implemented 
  • Participate and assist in development and updating of firm and office quality plans and lessons learned sharing

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An architecture license
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture (or equivalent)
  • More than 10 years of experience in a firm setting
  • Experience with in-depth construction documentation, project delivery, and redline reviews in multiple construction types
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam
  • Revit knowledge is a plus but work in Revit is not required
