Project Accountant - Houston

Description:
Powers Brown Architecture is looking to add a full-time Project Accountant in the Houston office. The ideal candidate must have a demonstrated knowledge of accounting and finance principles and practices related to project accounting as well as excellent interpersonal abilities, strong communication and organizational skills, and enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Project Managers to input and track project budgets, including monitoring of additional fees added throughout the life of a project
  • Prepare monthly client invoices and send to clients per our monthly billing schedule
  • Review consultant invoices to ensure they are in accordance with established contracts, post against project and submit for payment approval
  • Research project discrepancies and work with Project Managers and clients to properly correct any issues in the accounting system
  • Assist with consultant accounts payable reconciliations
  • Assistance with AR collection efforts
  • Assistance with month-end closing and related journal entries
  • Maintaining Fixed Asset/Depreciation records/Entries
  • Other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Knowledge of accounting and finance principles and practices related to project accounting
  • Analysis of project/financial reports
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written
  • Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related degree
  • Minimum two years of Project Accounting experience, A&E experience preferred
  • Experience with Deltek Ajera or similar project accounting software a plus
