Cadenhead Earns WELL AP Credential

POWERS BROWN ARCHITECTURE AMONG FIRST CLASS OF PROVISIONAL WELL ACCREDITED PROFESSIONALS (WELL APs)

Nicole Cadenhead webHouston, Texas – April 2, 2015 – Nicole Cadenhead, Director of Interior Design from Powers Brown Architecture has earned a provisional WELL Accredited Professional (WELL AP) credential through the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), placing her among the first class of elite professionals who are dedicated to supporting human health and wellbeing in the built environment.

Hosted at the Cleveland Clinic Wellness Institute, the two-day inaugural WELL AP Workshop intro- duced the purpose, key components and structure of the WELL Building Standard (WELL) – the first building standard to focus on the health and wellness of the people in buildings. Industry experts and medical instructors guided attendees through the medical basis of WELL in addition to the standard’s design, implementation and certification requirements.

Powers Brown Architecture plans to incorporate the WELL Building Standard by placing people at the heart of design, construction, operations and development decisions. A WELL-certified project has the potential to add measurable value to the health, wellbeing and happiness of building occupants, as well as increased savings and productivity, in addition to meaningful return on investment to the tenant and building owner.

The WELL Building Standard is a performance-based certification system that marries best practices in design and construction with evidence-based medical and scientific research – harnessing the built environment as a vehicle to support human health and wellbeing. It was developed through seven years of rigorous research in collaboration with leading physicians, scientists and industry professionals, and addresses seven categories including air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort and mind.

WELL Accredited Professionals must demonstrate advanced knowledge and proficiency in building wellness and the principles, practices and applications of WELL. The WELL AP Exam (beta) will be launched in November 2015 and complemented by a comprehensive educational program.
